Living a New Normal

Fifteen months ago our lives changed forever in a moment. In one moment, our lives were shattered. The day we found out Mark had cancer and it had spread, was a day I will never forget. To say it was devastating is a huge understatement.

Since that day, my loving, super positive husband is still fighting everyday. He receives chemo every two weeks in a pump that doses out chemo for 48 hour time period. At the end of the two days, I take off the pump and we again wait two weeks for the next session. He is currently working a 40 hour week, helping coach the boys in wrestling, and giving up a weekend a month to the National Guard. He is also working out in the gym. The doctor told him that he is the first person she has seen to actually put on muscle during treatment! He was super proud!

On Friday, we were setting down to eat and Julien looked over at Mark, saw the pump, and said, "Hey Dad, did you get chemo today?" It was so normal to him at this point. This has became our new normal. Although this isn't the way we expected our life to be at this point, I never expected my 10 year old to pray that Daddy didn't have to do chemo anymore, we are still thankful for everyday and every moment.

We are thankful for all our family and friends who continue to pray for Mark! Keep Praying for him! We have truly felt all the prayers! Please keep them coming!

Hey Melinda! Such a moving post. Keeping you close in thoughts and prayers. We miss you a lot. The Key Club at THS called and asked us to do the shoe drive again! They want to participate in Tom's Shoes National Barefoot Day and wanted to march to our donation site barefoot and donate their shoes!
Hope all is well with the kiddo's in school! Take care...
