Happy Gotcha Day, Baby Girl!!

Seven years ago today, we met our Guatemalan princess for the first time. She was a little chunk of a baby with these beautiful big brown eyes and shiny black hair. We were completely smitten with her. She is our spitfire, full of energy, stubborness, and love. We love you, Baby Girl! Happy Gotcha Day!

Lenten Promises

So, I convinced my husband to give up wine, beer, and all alcoholic beverages for lent. Yes, I did the same. Not that we have some serious problem, but I'm trying to get ready for this run and the alcohol was making me sluggish. Really, I think it's my age, but we will see. I'm so proud of him because he wasn't so sure at first, but then agreed and has never wavered.

What was really funny about giving up alcohol, was that recently he was at the Knights of Columbus Hall and the bartender offered Mark a beer and he said, "No, thanks, my wife made me give it up for lent." The bartender smiled, held up his Diet Coke, and said, "Mine, too!"

25 days and counting!

March???

Yes, that is actually Isa's bike not Marks!

What happened to February? I can't believe we are almost to the middle of March! How did this happen? Time just keeps marching on.

Not much is going on here. We have finally had a few nice days of weather and got out so the kids could ride their bikes. Julien is the only one who hasn't mastered the bike riding and in perfect Julien style, we've finally realized he will do it when he and only he is ready to do it!

I've been busy going to the gym, Mark signed me up to run(I use that term loosly)in the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago in April. Signing me up is the only way to get me to the gym, so I don't make a complete fool of myself. It is so hard and I really have to pick up the pace. I realized the other day that I have to say, I CAN, the way I tell my kids, to say I CAN, intead of I CAN'T! Acel asked if they should just meet me at the 1 mile mark! So funny! Although, that might be a good idea.

Cinderella Ball 2011

Last night we let Meah and Isabel go on their first double date. Of course with the greatest guy in their life...their Daddy. They went to the Father/Daughter dance and had a ball.

A.K.A. A Twin

This past weekend we spent with my parents. At one point, my mom was talking about some sheets that we had left at our old house. They were queen size sheets and had been on Isabel's bed, but when we moved we had to get rid of the bed. She was going to give the sheets to my niece. About that time, Isabel came in and for some reason my mom said, "Isa, what size is your bed?" She said, "A servant's size". I said, "It's actually called a twin." Isa said, "Well, a King size is really big and so is a Queen, so it's a servant's!"

GAME FACE ON!

Mark loves wrestling, me maybe not so much. I loved watching in high school, but watching your own little boys get twisted around on the mat is not really fun for me. I go to their meets because as a mother I have to, fortunately after the first one, Julien decided he just liked going to practices. That was just fine for me, but I had to share this picture because they crack me up!
